My holiday wish list

With my family living so far apart and being a bunch of perfectionists, we rely heavily on wish lists for each member of the family to get our holiday shopping done.  The element of surprise is still very important to us, but we have a guiding light to ensure successful gift giving.  What usually happens is I focus too much of shopping for the perfect gifts for others and procrastinate on making my own list.

Also, making my own list is difficult; did I mention the perfectionist thing?  I want to research everything and ensure I’m choosing the very best option.  More times than I’d like to admit, I end up buying something myself because I don’t think it will be available for long or I want it before the holiday.  I need to make sure that I’m being mindful of budgets and providing realistic options.  I have to spread the wealth--I can’t give my husband, my sisters and my in-laws the same list to avoid duplications.

This year I focused on smaller items that would make big impacts.  I broke it down into three categories:

1.  Beauty upgrades:  I’m a sucker for experimenting with new products, but I always hold on to my daily-use must-haves for way too long.  My curling wand is rusty and I’ve had my Sonicare toothbrush since before I met my husband.  Time to replace both!

2.  Outfit game-changers:  These are items that will level-up an outfit by adding a little something special.  Statement necklaces and fancy socks are two of my current game-changing obsessions.  They are also relatively cheap ways to really make a look special.  You can also never have too many.

3.  Replacing staple pieces.  I’ve been wearing certain staple pieces for many years and have been very hard on them.  While I would be very sad to see them go, it would make me extremely happy to replace them with new, high quality, improved versions to refresh some of my more classic looks.  I searched high and low for the perfect navy striped tee to pair well with blazers, pattern mixing and more.  I also really excited for these smoking shoes.  They will pair well with so many spring outfits!

Now that my list is done, back to searching for the perfect gifts for friends and family!

Happy holidays from my family to yours!
