Statement Booties: My Winter Uniform

I can't begin to tell you how many nights I've been up way too late on my closet app mixing and matching my wardrobe to come up with amazing pairings that I never tried before.  Some people play Candy Crush, others scroll through Instagram.  My favorite game and late night addiction is organizing my digital closet.  Sometimes I come up with fabulous new pairings and a power outfit is born! Other times I get so frustrated and think "I have absolutely nothing to wear."

Part of my New Year's resolutions was to go to bed before midnight every night.  I'm the opposite of a morning person and also recently gave up coffee, so I needed to change my night owl habits to make the mornings easier.  That means no more late night digital closet matching games.  What it doesn't mean is that I stop putting together outfits that I love and make me feel great.

This is where the statement bootie comes in.  When you have show-stealing, life of the party footwear on your feet, the rest of your outfit can be quite simple without being boring.  The mixing and matching game all of a sudden becomes much easier.  Stick with neutrals or solid colors that pair well with your statement boots so they don't compete for attention.

With these embroidered Vince Camuto boots in particular, there are so many vibrant colors to pair with, the outfit options are endless. The floral pattern is also great to mix with other patterns like stripes.

Treat leopard boots as a neutral itself.  I've had a lot of fun pairing my bold ruby reds and emerald greens with leopard boots, along with monochrome black looks.

It's a wonder how a pair of magnificent shoes can make getting dressed in the morning so much easier.  I'm still not a morning person; I don't think I ever will be.  But the digital closet matching game is over, and I won.
